I am responsible for my life. I accept self-responsibility.

self-responsibility_means_no_excuses

Today, I stand tall and brace my shoulders and with the courage of a hero and the smile of a conqueror and accept the truth that each of us is accountable for our lives, that each of us creates our destiny.

I take responsibility for my choices as well as the consequences of my actions.

Today, I know that I am in charge of my success, my failure, my  happiness, my sorrow, my glow, my gloom, my victory, my defeat, my wealth, my poverty, my peace as well as my restlessness, my health, my dis-ease, my progress, my backwardness, the friends I choose  and the enemies I make, my love, my disgust, my hope, my despair, my courage, my fear, my willingness, my indifference, my balance, my bias, my goals, my aimlessness, my faith, my doubt,  my dreams, my nightmares, my desires, my fulfillment, my liberty, my limitations, my reaction, my response, my freedom and my bondage.

Today, I no longer seek to control or to change the world or a country or the society I live in or my family or my friends. I realize that wisdom lies in accepting that I have control over my life alone.

Today, I turn my excuses into reasons to grow and fault-finding into learning outcomes. I take control of my thoughts and begin to build my life anew.

And each day, I recollect the truth during my working hours, and remember it when I am home and affirm it upon waking and as I go to sleep. In time, the truth shall set me free.

I inhale peace and I exhale cheerfulness.

Peace is life, restlessness is death. I know that life is not made up of years but of moments. And what I fill these moments with, I get back as life.

Today, whenever I have time, nay now, this moment, I close my eyes, feel my breath and see it flow in and out at its own pace. With each breath, I inhale peace and I exhale cheerfulness. I am one with peace.

Peace is my greatest treasure and I make time everyday to gather the honey of peace from the honeycomb of meditation. With peace in my thoughts and peace in my heart, I connect to the Universe and discover the source of strength, wisdom and love inside me. I experience the miracle of the moment: Peace.

Breathing in I calm my body. Breathing out I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment – Thich Nhat Hang

As human beings we all want to be happy and free from misery… we have learned that the key to happiness is inner peace. The greatest obstacles to inner peace are disturbing emotions such as anger, attachment, fear and suspicion, while love and compassion and a sense of universal responsibility are the sources of peace and happiness. – Dalai Lama quotes (Head of the Dge-lugs-pa order of Tibetan Buddhists, 1989 Nobel Peace Prize)

Sri Sri Daya Mata, President of Self-Realization Fellowship, puts it beautifully:

‘Visualize strongly the positive changes we want to make in our lives and to see manifest in this world, for out of the power of thought every worthwhile accomplishment is born.

‘The patterns we create in our mind mold our destiny and affect the lives of those around us.

Let us consciously choose to think positive, loving, confidence-inspiring thoughts, that we may tune in with the infinite Source of our being, and draw out the best in ourselves and others.’

I can. I will. I can. I will. I can. I will

Self-Confidence

I can do all things through faith in myself. I can fulfill the dreams I see when I am awake through belief in myself. I can stand unshaken amidst the crash of breaking worlds through trust in myself. I can accomplish the great deeds I desire through conviction in myself.

I can hold in my arms the achievement I aspire, the success I seek, the happiness I pursue, the love I cherish, the warmth I yearn, the riches I want, the potential I possess, the courage I long for, the satisfaction I hope for, the meaning and purpose of life I search for, only through confidence in myself.

I know that gaining self-confidence is not one-tenth as difficult as I imagine. It is not a gift given to a chosen few. Aha! I feel its presence as I acknowledge and affirm the truth:  I am nature’s greatest creation; I am unique in all the world; Infinite power is within me. And from now on, in every situation, I will stand tall on the rock of this affirmation.

When I am called to speak in public, I chant ‘I can, I will’ and step forward. When I am faced with a financial crisis, I shout ‘I can, I will’ and look for possibilities. When I am assigned a task that appears to be too big to handle or too difficult to accomplish, I remind myself ‘I can, I will’ and I set to work. When I am stuck in an emotional quicksand, I silently hum ‘I can, I will’ and look for ways to pull myself out.

In waking, eating, working, loving, sleeping, dreaming, I constantly affirm unheard by any, ‘I can, I will’. And armed with the magic wand of self-confidence, I cast the spell ‘I can, I will’ on the Voldemort of fear and transform every can’t into a can and every won’t into a will.

I am thrilled for I now know that self-confidence is something I can never lose, because self-confidence is something I can always choose by affirming ‘I can, I will’.
