Welcome to Affirmative Thinking

Hi!

I believe in what Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith calls “affirmative thinking, affirmative realization.” As he rightly puts it, “the very nature of the universe is affirmative, for life continues to affirm itself throughout eternity.” As such I call my blog Affirmative Thinking.

Hence the quotation: Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

If  we work TOGETHER with our thoughts we can FIND our Destiny.

Thought is just a creation of the Mind.
Lot of things are arise beyond the mind.
Hope you can take a note of that too..

      Dear Mr.Hickson,

Thank you for the note on thought.

I really enjoyed reading your comment. I must confess reflecting on it, musing over it. You have raised a very pertinent point and I appreciate it.

This is the tangent I traveled on:

Mind is just a figment of magnitude that we are. In fact, we are the infinite, endowed with a body and mind. Even science affirms this.

No less a physicist than Einstein said “A human being is part of a whole, called by us the ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space.” Meaning that we are infinite. Since matter is energy and energy is matter, we are in scientific terms ‘infinite’. ( E=mc2 )

A verse from the Isavasyopanisad expresses your profound thought. It says:

Om purnamadah purnamidam purnat purnamudacyate | Purnasya purnamadaya purnamevavashisyate ||

Given the magnitude that we are I chose to discuss on Thought Culture in affirmative thinking because thoughts are the building blocks of our life.

The Bible verse from Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7, says it beautifully: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is.”

So did Buddha: “All the we are is the result of our thought.”

      Thus ended my reflections…for now…

Thank you very much for stirring an intense thought.

      Warm regards

    Dear Mr. Vinay,

It’s true that confidence makes up one’s personality. But, then how does it happen? The answer is tricky. But i personally feel that one needs to take perfect care of oneself to feel confident in the real sense. The major contributors are:

    SELF-AWARENESS
•The perception of your skills, knowledge, responsibilities and value, both – professionally and personally.
•Being able to acknowledge your talents and feel belive that what you can do.

    SELF-APPRAISAL
•Objectively analyzing your own situation, skills and qualities, recognizing your strengths and weaknesses and acknowledging areas for improvement.
•Reflecting on and accurately judging your efforts and progress.
•Identifying areas of your life where you would like to increase your knowledge or skills and setting goals to meet those aims.

    SELF-ESTEEM
Self-esteem is the opinion you have of yourself.
•Step 1: Rebut the Inner Critic
    •Step 2: Practice Self-Nurturing
•Step 3: Get Help from Others

    SELF-MANAGING LEADERSHIP
•To be a cool and clam person.
•To have a clear vision and understanding.
    •To be committed.
    •To be creative.
•To experience the charisma of contentment through inner qualities.

    SELF-DISCIPLINE
    •Acceptance
    •Motivation
    •Self-control
    •Will power
    •Hard work
    •Industry
    •Persistence
    •Goals

    and finally

    SELF-ASSESSMENT
Self-assessment is the process of identifying what matters most to you, what you enjoy, and what you are good at. These attributes are usually divided into
    •Values
    •Interests
    •Personality
    •Skills

When a person comprehensively goes through a complete cycle of intra-personal interaction, the mind, body and soul get wonderfully invigorated. This pleasant feeling of optimism, power and dynamism is called self-confidence. And i personally feel that it’s difficult to get it without conscious effort and practice.

      Dear Ms. Ashalatha,
Thank you for the value you have added to the blog by your priceless analysis of self-confidence.

Your definition of Self-confidence is worth its weight in gold. You said, “This pleasant feeling of optimism, power and dynamism is called self-confidence.”

      Self-Confidence = Optimism x power x dynamism
