Love

July 21, 2008

I love everyone and everyone loves me.

I love* myself. I tell myself many times during the day ‘I Love You’. For this is the beginning of all my expressions of love. I love myself by accepting me as I am. This I do in the trust that God in His Infinite Love created me. And as His creation of Love, I am perfectly crafted. I am sculpted by Love Itself and after Its image. So, I am, by nature, love. Anything else is a graft on my being.

I love my family. By family, I mean, everyone in my home called Earth. Why? Because it is the nature of love to expand its reach. Love thrives in giving, in sharing, in caring, in bestowing. And when I give love, an equal amount of joy enters my being, a joy that is beyond all senses.

Above all, I love God. Because God is Love**. He is the Ocean of Love holding my little wave of love. I exist because He is thinking of me. And when I love Love, It energizes me, It enlarges the confines of my heart, It fills my life with meaning and purpose. I become whole.

And the definition of Life dawns on me: Love Is For Everyone.

** The more we express God’s Love, the more we meaning we find in life. By God’s Love I mean selfless love. In addition, Love also heals. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/healing-presence-gods-love.html

*** The picture is the traditional Chinese character for love (愛). It consists of a heart (middle) inside of “accept”, “feel”, or “perceive”, which shows a graceful emotion.

The Power of Thoughts

July 18, 2008

I watch my thoughts for they create my destiny.

I am today the result of my thoughts. Whatever I have thought repeatedly and with emotion, I have materialized. I am the material and I am also the maker*.

Today I am conscious of the thoughts I entertain in my mind-house and heart-lawn. I know that I empower a thought by paying attention to it. So I pay attention to good thoughts, to positive thoughts, to noble thoughts. I affirm them, for a thought – good or bad – gets power by affirmation.

Thought is a vital, living, dynamic force**. Hence, I choose to see thought-images, hear thought-melodies, feel thought-emotions that are good, positive and noble. I do this because I know thoughts create***.

*Think comes from O.E. þencan “conceive in the mind, think, consider, intend” (past tense þohte, p.p. geþoht), probably originally “cause to appear to oneself,” from P.Gmc.

- “think.” Online Etymology Dictionary. Douglas Harper, Historian. 18 Jul. 2008. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/think>.

** Thought power by Swami Sivananda discusses in great detail every aspect of thought – its physics and philosophy, its laws and dynamics, its value and uses, its functions, development, varieties, positive methods of thought control, patterns of thought culture, thought transcendence, its metaphysics, thought power for God Realization and for a new civilization.

*** There is a wonderful carrot experiment in a book ‘ABC’s of Life‘ by Charles R Collins, I came across after writing this. You must read it. It proves that your thoughts create your life and the power of thoughts becomes easy to understand. The picture is from that book.

Happiness

July 17, 2008

I choose happiness.

Happiness gives meaning to life for what is life but the quest for happiness. And I know where to find happiness. I also know that unlike pleasure, happiness is cause-independent.

The source of happiness is in me. It is not a state of mind but it is the nature of my being. I relax and let go things beyond my control. I laugh at myself and at the circumstances I am in. I do my best and smile. I remind myself that I am a warrior not a worrier.

I make others happy by sharing my time or things with them. I fill my heart with love, for happiness flourishes in the garden of love. I live a simple life* by which I mean a life of detachment. I know I own nothing in the ultimate sense.

I am grateful that I am allowed to enjoy the many good things I otherwise take for granted: my healthy body, the sound mind, the empathetic soul.

Every time I am happy I know I am lucky**. I am blessed.

*The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be”. - Marcel Pagnol (French Writer, Producer and Film Director, 1895-1974)
